I have an unbreakable silicone coffee cup, can I put it in the microwave?
I bought it at The Met in NY. it's great but I do not know if it is microwave safe.
Here is how to test most any material. Place a microwave-safe cup with say cup (8 oz or 300 ml) of water in it into the microwave. Place your test cup, empty, into the microwave as well. Run the microwave for 30 seconds. Then feel whether the empty cup has gotten hotter. If not, extend the test to two minutes and feel the cup again. If it is still relatively cool, it will withstand microwave usage.
The water is in the oven to give the microwaves something to heat in case the test cup doesn't absorb microwaves (which is what you are hoping for). If the water starts steaming, it will tend to warm the test cup, so you want to check the test cup before steaming occurs.
