How can I clean a glass stove top that has years of build up?
Where I work has a glass stove top. It is black and has gray like build up on it. When I started they told me it wouldn't come off. I have been working on it with a brillo pad. A good bit has came off, but I still have a long ways. Dose anyone know of something that would bring it off. I hate looking at this nice stove not being taken care of.
You can try one of those green nylon scrubbie pads with a bit of baking soda and vinegar. First I would let some vinegar and soda soak on it for about 20 minutes, then take the scrubbie (with more vinegar and soda) and start scrubbing. I might also use some Blue Wolf or Greased Lightening (from Walmart) to spray on there and let it sit about 15-30 minutes and scrub ot off. When I moved into my house here, the tenant I had rented to had a bad habit of clopping food all over the stove and the floor (there was literally a 1 1/2 inch line of gooey mess AROUND the outside of the stove and the stove top was crusted inside and out. Took me about 2 weeks to get it all scraped off the floor, the oven cleaned and the stove top shiny and clean again. The baking soda shouldn't scratch it either, but it will grip on the grime and help whisk it off. The Greased Lightening loosened the grease and goo and the Blue Wolf just cut through it all in layers. It was a process, but it did work. Good luck!
