Why do muslim girls wear a head wrap?
I have a friend who wears one and I don't know why and it's embarrasing to ask her. HELP!! And can they wear skirts (mini? or too knees)? or short sleeves it seems like she covers up all the time. Can they wear tank tops or tube tops? or capris? or shorts?
It's a hijab as the woman above said. But it has been forced upon these women by oppressive men with low self esteem. These men are afraid that if others see the beautiful locks that these women have then they will lose control of them. Everyone has pride to a certain extent...and women have a lot to be thankful for. Their hair is beautiful and is part of what makes them women.

It's funny, these men claim that if women don't cover their hair...their "glory," then men will be tempted by their beauty. This is nonsense. Can't women ALSO be tempted by those men as well. Or is that the problem? These men don't look good and so are insecure about their looks. Oppression is about mind control. Whether the person is there or not. The oppressor works on the mind with charismatic words or clever suggestions that "you aren't worth much" or "you won't get anybody else..." ANYTHING that convinces you that he is your only choice. Women who find themselves "covering up" due to what "others might think" rather than selecting their own style of dress...are being controlled and manipulated by those who want to define who she is and use her as a puppet for their own ends.
In some cases, these women actually wear it by choice. Some have beautiful multi-colored ones that reflect their culture and their national pride.
If you wish to find out which of these 2 categories that your friend falls into, compliment her head wrap then ask her where she got it. If she wears it all the time, you can find out if it is for stylish purposes, religious reasons or due to insecurity forced upon her by the mental manipulations of others.
Women who wear hijabs will sometimes wear capris, tanktops, shorts, etc. But those whose identities are destroyed and their self esteem shattered, will be forced to wear the burqa--the robe that covers the woman's entire body...leaving out only her eyes. In my view, that robe is a symbol of the domination and mental control that she has allowed those men to have over her.
A robe of oppression...a tomb of despair. A loss of identity and pride in herself:
