Can a 13 year old guitarist get a [paying] job as a house musician at a local coffee shop playing cover songs?
I'm 13 years old and I need to make some money and my dream job is to be a professional guitarist. Is it possible to get a [paying] job as a house musician at a local coffee shop in Toronto, ON Canada by playing cover songs?
First, how old do you have to be to get a job in Ontario? In the United States you have ti be 14. If you're too young, they could pay you in cash, but if you get caught, you're in trouble for not paying taxes. If you're getting payed to play other peoples songs, and you're not paying royalties, then you're in big trouble.
All around answer, I'd say look for something else.
