Is this coffee pot a fire hazard?
Mom had an electric percolator from the 1960's. It was so junky parts of it were taped together. Today, while perking coffee, it started leaking from the top. The coffee dripped down the side of the pot and saturated the cord. Little blue sparks were coming out of it. I unplugged it, emptied it, then threw it in the thrash. Mom is furious with me. She says the pot is still good and wants me to go out and dig it out of the trash. I think it's a fire/shock hazzard, am I right? BTW, mom is the worst pennypincher I've ever known and the worst pack rat.
I agree with you, it is past it's useful life. Give it a rest and buy her a new one.
