Why is it football teams never play the superbowl at home but in hockey, the Stanley cup is played at home?
If there is a super bowl in football, each team plays away at a random stadium but however, if it is a Stanley cup game, one hockey team is playing at home so in other words, a hockey team will be able to win a Stanley cup game at home or the final Stanley cup game? In football, no team can win the super bowl at home though. Why is that?
I think that everything is set out fine. Due to the Super Bowl being only one game, it would be unfair to make either team the home team. But the Stanley Cup Final is seven games, so home and away games are fair. One team starts with two home games, but then the other team gets to make up for that with two home games. I do think that it is possible for one team to lose momentum due to being on the road for the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final, but I still think it is fair.
Also, a lot more preparation goes into the Super Bowl. If the NFL only had two weeks to prepare a certain stadium, it may not be ready. But it is set years before, so there is plenty of time to prepare it. But in hockey, not much needs to be done to prepare an arena for a Stanley Cup Final.
